Sheer Fabric

Sheer fabric curtains, also known simply as sheers, are a popular look at the moment. These lightweight beauties could be considered the perfect window covering for many reasons. Not only do they offer daytime privacy, diffuse bright light and offer a degree of insulation against heat and cold, but they do it all at the same time as softening rooms with their floaty, textural appearance. They’re also ideal for layering, partnering perfectly with blind or solid and decorative fabrics.

“I believe the secret to having a warm and inviting feel in your home is achieved through incorporating sheer curtains on your windows” – Angie Carol Butler

Sheer fabric brings softness to a room whilst providing daytime privacy and sun protection. If you want your windows to appear full and shapely, sheer fabric is a great choice, as it allows you apply soft layering techniques to your windows. Sheer fabric can also be easily paired with decorative or solid fabric partners.

Sheer curtains are wonderful transition pieces between indoor and outdoor living spaces. They can enhance a room’s ambience through the softening of incoming light, the framing of your windows, and the creating of an impression that your rooms have more height. If this sounds like something you want to achieve, Sheer fabric is the one for you!

The majority of sheer curtain fabrics will allow you to see through them, enabling you to retain your exterior view. At the same time, they offer a level of daytime privacy, shielding you and your space from the outside world. However, at night, these benefits are reduced so we suggest adding another layer of window covering to provide you with additional privacy options, such as block out roller blinds, solid curtains or plantation shutters.

Sheer curtains act like a diffuser, softening natural light and reducing the glare associated with direct sunlight. They will help protect your interior from UV rays, reducing the risk of fading and sun damage to furniture, flooring and soft furnishings.  However, for optimal sun protection, we encourage your to layer your sheers with either a roller blind or solid block out fabric.
